„WHEN RECONSTRUCTION IS NOT ENOUGH. REBUILDING SOCIETY AFTER VIOLENT CONFLICT“
Prof. Dr. Marie Louise Stig Sørensen, Cambridge University
Prof. Stig Sørensen is Professor of Prehistoric Europe and Heritage Studies at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, University of Cambridge and was director of the Cambridge Heritage Research Centre. She is a renowned scholar in conflict archaeology taking the perspective of heritage studies and currently working on how reconstruction of heritage in the aftermath of armed conflict impact identity and sense of belonging. Recent research has focused on memorials and monuments and their exploration as political tools in the public space.
This lecture is part of the research project „Devastation, dislocation and (re-)settlement: Breaking/replacing the people-place connection in landscape“ directed by Thomas Meier (Kaete Hamburger Center for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies, Heidelberg University) and Sam Turner (McCord Centre for Landscape, Newcastle University) funded by DFG and AHRC.
