Apocalyptic Cinema 2024-2025
In the winter semester 2024|25, we will continue the Apocalyptic Cinema film series in cooperation with the Karlstorkino . We are also collaborating again with the 73. IFFMH - International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg under the motto CAPAS presents: Apocalyptic Imaginaries in November. At the end of October, we will not reveal which film and topics will be discussed.
A special highlight of this series is the short film evening on 21 January. Through the cooperation with the Second International Film Festival on Ageing: A Look Back in Time (Original: Segundo Festival Internacional de Cine sobre Envejecimiento: Miradas a través del tiempo), which took place in November 2023 through the collaboration of different institutions in Uruguay, Mexico and Heidelberg, CAPAS was able to award five short films in the category ‘Apocalypse, and Aging’. The five films which won this category will be shown and discussed by researchers at CAPAS.
Each film evening will be accompanied by an expert talk or panel on the film, in which researchers and/or filmmakers will talk about the end-time image of the respective film in German or English. Afterwards, we invite the audience to a discussion in German and English.
